Back in March, Azerbaijani security forces arrested 22 people suspected of planning terror attacks against the Israeli and US embassies, foreigners, and diplomats in the capital of Baku. At the time, it was assumed that the suspects were operating on instructions from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Now it has been revealed that the attempted terror attacks were part of a larger effort by Iranian-linked operatives to kill foreign diplomats in several countries over a 13-month period. Officials stated that the targets included two officials from Saudi Arabia, six Israelis, and several Americans.
Recently, police investigators working in Saudi Arabia, the US, Israel, and Azerbaijan have gathered new evidence tying the assassination attempts together and linking them back to Hezbollah militants based in Iran.
